EU to provide fruit for pupils

The EU is planning to spend 90m euros a year providing free fruit and vegetables to schools in an effort to tackle obesity – it is estimated that 22m children in the EU are overweight. If the scheme is agreed by the European Parliament it would be co-financed by individual governments.
