Half of all women find cycling to work is far too hair-raising
September 20th 2008
Research commissioned by Cycling England found that 58 per cent of women aged 18 to 34 would not cycle to work as they did not want to arrive sweaty and 38 per cent did not want to carry a change of clothes. 27 per cent were concerned about “helmet hair” and 19 per cent did not want colleagues to see them without make-up. Women were found to be three times more likely to cycle on an exercise bike than cycle to work. Two thirds of all women never cycle and just 2 per cent ride a bike every day.
