Eat Slowly

February 1st 2010

Learn to eat slowly. This can be quite a challenge if you
are a fast eater. Studies have shown that at least 20
minutes is required before the brain receives the message
that the stomach is full. By taking more time to eat and
chewing each bite thoroughly, you not only will enjoy your
food more but you will make it easier to digest. Train
yourself to lengthen your meal by engaging in conversation,
resting your fork between courses, chewing slowly, and
drinking plenty of water between courses. If you are always
in a hurry and don't have time to eat for 20 minutes, you
need to find the time in your day. If you can't take 20
minutes to eat a full meal, try eating 5 small meals with
fewer calories to help you to not overeat.
