Pru targets obese with rewards for fruits of labours

Reports suggest that from August the Prudential will be offering its policyholders rewards for taking up exercise, ceasing to smoke and eating healthily.
Incentives will include cheap tickets on Eurostar, discounts off Mark Warner holidays, extra Nectar points for buying fruit and vegetables at Sainsbury’s and two for one tickets at Cineworld. Customers buying life assurance and protection policies will be eligible for the discounts which vary in amount according to how healthy their lifestyle is.
Shaun Matisonn, chief executive of PruHealth and PruProtect, said the current trend for obesity was the main reason behind creating the reward scheme.
